“Venture Myth Michael Yang Gives Kiwanis Club Lecture”

Michael Yang (CEO of Michael Yang Capital Management, pictured), a 1.5-generation Korean-American entrepreneur who created a Silicon Valley venture legend, gave a special lecture at the La Cañada Kiwanis Club luncheon on the 27th of last month.
Yang shared his 37-day, 11,000-mile motorcycle journey from La Cañada to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, under the theme, “When the Open Road Comes Calling.” He also shared his 40,000-mile journey across North America over the past seven years.
After graduating from UC Berkeley, Yang founded the internet startup MySimon.com, which he sold to CNET for $700 million two years later. He emphasized a spirit of challenge and urged people to “step outside their comfort zone and test themselves.” He is currently writing a memoir about his Rocky Mountain adventure, scheduled for publication in March of next year.
